best of 2011

it’s the most wonderful time of the year!  it is time for my annual best of music countdown!  so, here is how it works.  i pick my favorites of the year, and you agree or disagree with me.  i try to choose albums and singles that were released this year.  however, as with every year, sometimes a song or album may be from a previous year.  you do not need to point this out to me.  this is just for fun and it’s not that serious.  also, some singles from albums listed here may have come out last year before the album dropped…this will explain why you do not see rolling in the deep on this year’s list, but still see adele.  anyways, i had a fun time compiling this list and look forward to it each year.  let me know what you think!

queen robyn turns over the crown to king simon!  this was truly simon’s year.  four songs in top singles, plus his duet with ro danishei, and easily my favorite album of the year.  plus, he is pretty great in concert too!  those of you who know me best know that i have not shut up, stopped singing, stopped tweeting, or stopped posting about simon and his music all year.  check him out on itunes.  for that matter check out any of the stuff here that you are curious about hearing.  this year’s list shows that it was a great year for not only music overall, but definitely for pop music!  hit up my facebook or twitter and let me know what you think!

so i have been m.i.a. from tumblr.  sorry guys.  i am back to tell you that you need to check out the new rihanna vidjeo.  it is for we found love.  it’s produced by one of my fave dj’s, calvin harris.  ri ri looks amazing in this one.  i am obsessed with the track.  essentially, it reminds me of everyday of my life when i was 22 years old.  enjoy guys!  #moresoon #ipromise

Still live for this moment! Rachel wanted to say some stupid shit SOOOOOO bad! You can actually see her stop herself and start twitching! She didn’t want to get all emotional and lose those votes! Haha! Dani is such a badass! #teamdani *I do not own this gif.

fight back! we must not allow gay teens to continue to kill themselves!

hey guys. i just read this article about jamey rodemeyer who was a 14 year old gay teen who committed suicide because of bullying about his sexuality. recently, there have been far too many similar stories in the media. this truly breaks my heart. we, as adults, can not allow society to continue to ignore this issue. hatred is a learned behavior. therefore, i see many to hold accountable for influencing kids to bully one another to this extent. we can not allow religious zealots, politicians, musicians with hateful lyrics, and other uninformed people to continue to influence the youth with their rhetoric, hate, personal agendas, and nonsense. in america, we are fortunate to have the freedom to do what we want and be who we are. with that freedom comes responsibility to hold one another accountable. i am not saying that you have to agree with a gay “lifestyle”, but we should all agree that no child should ever be pushed so far as to take his or her own life, gay, straight, or anything in between. i could have been this 14 year old boy some 20 years ago, as could numerous of my close friends. i am so happy that none of us decided to make this decision. think of how that may have impacted your life. suicidal people don’t necessarily want to kill themselves, as so much as they just do not want to deal with the loneliness, hate, and pain anymore. so, you may be wondering what you can do to stop this. i think about it frequently. please be aware that your words and actions have consequences and can influence impressionable minds. hold yourself accountable to not use derogatory terms like faggot and dyke. do not use sayings such as “that’s so gay”. and don’t just do this when you feel it is acceptable. don’t say, well i only talk like that around my friends. that is just ignorant and irresponsible. you may not even truly feel that way, but by speaking so ignorantly, you are showing others that it is okay to do the same. and it isn’t. hold yourself to this and, if you are brave enough or even comfortable enough, hold others in your presence to these same standards. it may seem insignificant, but we have to be the change that we want to see. if you have read this far, thank you. erase the hate and stop the bullying. xoxo.

i can’t wait to be back in the city tomorrow!!!
